Twisted Nymph is ‘a badass contortionist’ (Mardi Gras Mag, 2017) and no mistake.
Using her background in design and her awesome intellect, this Brighton based circus and cabaret artist brings an eclectic mix of acts ranging from the comedic to glamorous that will blow your socks off. Ladies hold on to your gentlemen, gentlemen hold on to your hats, Twisted Nymph will dazzle you with aerial silk ropes, aerial hoop and contortion. Sexy, witty, elegant and fun, brainy never looked this beautiful. This is circus at its very brightest! Twisted Nymph has spent the past 10 years performing at numerous festivals, the Brit Awards after party, circus little tops and more! She cannot fail to entertain.
Lured into the world of cabaret through pole dance in 2008, Carolyn started her journey into the circus arts in 2010 whilst on work placement in New York, where she came across the Trapeze School NY. Whilst completing her degree in textile design she continued her training in pole dance, aerial circus, acrobatics and contortion. With a background in teaching pole and burlesque Carolyn apprenticed with High Top Circus Brighton to develop her instructor skills. She now teaches adult and youth classes in aerial circus, flexibility and acrobatics on the South Coast. With a diverse blend of academic and performance expertise (she is in the final stages of her PhD exploring young women’s experiences of recreational aerial circus!) Carolyn brings together 10 years performance experience with 5 years instructing experience.
Carolyn takes a holistic approach to flexibility combing active and passive stretching, PNF techniques, partner stretches and massage techniques with the aim to build strength, stability, flexibility and body awareness.
